Injectables Q & A

What are injectables?

Injectables are cosmetic solutions that your dermatologist injects into your skin to help erase lines and wrinkles. Your dermatologist inserts the injectable just beneath your skin to help with:

  • Aging skin
  • Wrinkles
  • Aging hands
  • Sagging skin
  • Frown lines
  • Furrows

Injectables block the nerve signals to your muscles causing them to relax, which in turn smooths your wrinkles.

What type of injectable do I need?

Your board-certified dermatologist examines your skin and helps you choose an injectable perfect for your needs and goals. Some of the many options available at CSC Steil Dermatology include:

  • Restylane®: adds natural-looking shape and fullness
  • Sculptra®: activates collagen production and builds volume over time

Your skincare team customizes a plan that may include one, two, three, or more injectables depending on your treatment areas and skin goals.

Do injectables hurt?

Your dermatologist meets with you to look at your skin and facial structure so they can strategically place the ultra-thin needle in the optimal place to get the best results.

All of the clinic’s injectables include lidocaine, which instantly relieves any pain you may feel during the process. You may feel a pinch as the needle penetrates your skin, but it’s quick and well-tolerated by most patients.

What can I expect after my injectable appointment?

After the treatment, your face may swell slightly for a day or two and you may experience some mild bruising. It’s temporary and resolves on its own in a week or less.

Your care team at CSC Steil Dermatology goes over some aftercare instructions to help you accelerate the healing process. They recommend an ice pack on the treatment site to help reduce swelling and also suggest that you refrain from exercise and sports to minimize bruising.

How long do injectables last?

Injectables are so popular because they last for many months and up to a year. During your consultation at CSC Steil Dermatology, your doctor explains what to expect from your chosen injectable. Once it wears off, you can safely repeat the procedure.

Appointments for injectables are quick and can typically be scheduled during your lunch break. Call to make an appointment.
